Why does my click or sale have the IP address 10.10.10.10?

If ClickMagick recognizes a sale but you don’t have any tracked clicks for that visitor, ClickMagick will go ahead and record an organic click to go along with the sale.

This can happen for example if someone goes straight to your order form and buys, without first visiting a landing page with click tracking code on it.

In some cases, like an affiliate sale reported to ClickMagick via a Postback URL, we’re not going to be able to determine the customer’s IP address …

This is because most affiliate networks don’t provide the customer’s IP in the Postback data they send to ClickMagick, and if there’s no prior click tracked in ClickMagick we just don’t know the customer’s IP address.

In this case where we simply cannot determine the customer’s IP address, it will default to 10.10.10.10.
