What’s the difference between an Action and an Engagement?
There’s really no difference from a technical standpoint – think of an Engagement as a second primary Action.
Most small businesses only need to track a few key goals or events besides sales, so Actions and Engagements provide a simple way to do that.
For example, you’ll probably want to track your opt-ins as Actions …
Then, if you have another important non-sale goal or event you want to track – like an “add to cart”, webinar registration or booked call event for example – you can track that as an Engagement.
This allows you to easily see at a glance how you’re doing when it comes to both of these important events, without having to drill down and compare multiple different types of Actions.
Tip: You can customize the label you see in your stats for both Actions and Engagements in your User Settings. For example, you may want to change the default Action label to Optins and the default Engagement label to Add To Cart.
