What else should I know if I’m with Velocity Profits?
There are a few common questions and issues we see coming up with users following the Velocity Profits course, due to recent updates, improvements and other changes in ClickMagick.
To make things easier for you, here’s a list of the most common FAQs along with answers and solutions for each …
Why aren’t my visits tracking?
Here are the most common causes for nothing showing up in your dashboard when you test your links:
1. You're not testing using your UTM link (that's the link you built using the URL Builder, found under the Tools menu in your Campaigns dashboard).
For anything to track at all, you need have at least utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign added to your landing page URL.
To find the links you've already built, you can go to the URL Manager, found under the Tools menu of your Campaigns dashboard.
Let’s take a look at an example. If you visit or send traffic to a link like this, nothing will track:
https://yourlandingpage.com/example
However, if you visit or send traffic to a link like this, it will be tracked:
2. There's a problem with the click tracking code on your page.
This is usually due to manually editing your code in a text editor, which we don't recommend as it can lead to typos and formatting errors.
To make absolutely sure you have the correct tracking code on your page, follow the steps below.
Step 1 – Go to the Tools menu in your Campaigns dashboard and click Website Code:
Step 2 – Once the popup opens, choose "Custom Code":
Step 3 – Click on "Advanced Options", then "Goal Tracking":
Step 4 – If you are following what the course shows you, you can simply enter ".cta" (without quotes) into the Element ID/Class section, hit "Add" and close the window:
Step 5 – Click on the button to copy the correct code and replace the incorrect tracking code on your page with this one:
Why aren’t my actions tracking?
Issues with actions not tracking are usually caused by an error in your click tracking code. The most common reason for this is manually adding the "log_action" line in a rich text editor like TextEdit.
We don't recommend this, as it can lead to typos and formatting errors which cause the issues you're experiencing here.
To make absolutely sure you have the correct tracking code on your page, follow the steps below.
Step 1 – Go to the Tools menu in your Campaigns dashboard and click Website Code:
Step 2 – Once the popup opens, choose “Custom Code”:
Step 3 – Click on "Advanced Options", then "Goal Tracking":
Step 4 – If you are following what the course shows you, you can simply enter ".cta" (without quotes) into the Element ID/Class section, hit "Add" and close the window:
Step 5 – Click on the button to copy the correct code and replace the incorrect tracking code on your page with this one:
Why aren’t my engagements tracking?
If you are promoting a ClickBank offer, issues with engagements (Order Form Impressions or Checkouts) not tracking are usually caused by using an outdated tracking pixel instead of the newer postback URL method.
Since the course is now outdated, remove the Engagement Tracking Pixel you added following the steps in the course.
Once you’ve done that, follow the updated steps here to add the correct Engagement Postback URL:
Another reason it may not work is if the affiliate link on your landing page is missing the [cmc_vid] token that's needed to track engagements and sales.
To add that, complete Step 2 from the following article:
Next, make sure the affiliate ID/nickname in your Clickbank affiliate hoplink is correct. If your affiliate ID/nickname isn’t correct, you won’t be credited for the click, this also means you won’t be credited for order form impressions or sales. You can find your affiliate nickname by logging in to your Clickbank account.
Why can’t I find the settings for Audience Optimization Pro?
Capturing visitor info used to be solely for Audience Optimization Pro, but that's all changed. There are now a bunch of ways to capture visitor info in ClickMagick, and this information can be used in a variety of ways.
So Audience Optimization Pro is no longer something with it’s own name …
The sending of visitor info to your ad networks with your conversions now just happens automatically as part of Audience Optimization, as long as you are capturing visitor info in ClickMagick.
I had a sale, why isn’t it showing up in ClickMagick?
Here are the most common reasons for sales not being tracked in ClickMagick:
1. If you’re using Groove Pages, make sure you have “Carry Over URL Parameters” turned off for all of the links on your page. Due to a bug in Groove Pages, this causes issues with sales tracking.
Note that even if this feature was working correctly, it isn’t needed for conversions to track correctly.
After you’ve turned this off in Groove Pages, any future sales will be tracked correctly. Past sales will not be tracked, because this option was turned on at the time the visitor clicked on your affiliate links.
2. Your postback URL or instant notification URL may be missing or incorrect.
In ClickMagick, go to the Tools menu in your Campaigns dashboard, then “Affiliate Tools”, then “Postback URL Log”. If you see your conversion here with an error, the issue is not caused by a missing postback URL or Instant Notification URL.
If you see nothing at all in here, the issue is caused by a missing or incorrect postback URL / Instant Notification URL.
Check the article below to make sure you’ve set up your Instant Notification URL in Clickbank correctly. As for MaxWeb, you can ask your MaxWeb account manager to make sure that your postback URL is installed globally in your MaxWeb account.
3. The affiliate links on your page may be missing the tracking parameter. To add that, all you need to do is go to the Tools menu in your Campaigns dashboard, then “Affiliate Tools”, then “Affiliate Link Builder”.
Paste in your affiliate link, select either Clickbank or MaxWeb as your affiliate network and Campaigns as your tracking type. Click “Update My Affiliate Link” and it’ll give you the correct affiliate link to add to your landing page.
Why aren't my conversions showing in Google?
Here are the most common reasons why conversions aren't showing in your Google Ads campaigns:
1. Conversions are sent from ClickMagick to Google in near real-time, however Google can take up to 6 hours to process regular GCLID (non iOS) conversions and up to a few days to process WBRAID (iOS) conversions, so you won't always see conversions straight away in your Google account.
To check if your conversions have been sent to Google or not, you can go to Audience Optimization in the Tools menu of your Campaigns dashboard.
From there, make sure you have the project you’re currently working on selected and scroll down to the bottom of the page.
Click on the "Log" button and you'll be able to see everything that was sent. Remember that “Actions” are clicks from your landing page to the offer, “Sales” are purchases.
If you don't see your conversions here, or can't find the log button, take a look at some of the other reasons below.
2. If you don't see a green toggle next to "Enabled" under Audience Optimization, then it hasn't been set up yet.
3. Your Advanced Rules may not be set up correctly. If you're following the course's instructions, your default rules (found under Tools, then Audience Optimization in your Campaigns dashboard) should be setup like so:
Your Advanced Rules should look something like the following screenshot. This will vary based on the UTM parameters you are actually using in your ads.
You need to make absolutely sure that the utm_source value you're using in your Advanced Rule matches the utm_source you're using for the links in your ads, including any spaces, dashes or capital letters.
If this doesn't match exactly, the rule won't be triggered and your sales won't be sent to Google.
For example, if you're using utm_source=Alpilean-1 in your ads, but have alpilean1 in your Advanced Rule, your sales won’t be sent to Google because the rule doesn’t match exactly.
Why are there more conversions showing in Google than in ClickMagick?
Here are the most common reasons why you may be seeing lots of conversions in your Google account, but don't see any sales in your ClickMagick account:
1. You're sending ClickMagick "Action" conversions to your General "Action" Event in Google, and you have that event selected as a conversion goal for your campaign.
In the case of Velocity Profits, ClickMagick "Action" conversions are clicks from your landing page to your offer (VSL), not sales.
If you don't want these to show up as conversions in your Google campaign, you can choose only your purchase conversion as a conversion goal. You can find that in your Google campaign settings here:
2. You're sending ClickMagick "Actions" to your purchase conversion in Google, or your default rules aren't set up correctly.
You never want to send “Actions” or “Engagements” to your purchase conversion in Google, as that will make Google think that clicks from your landing page (Actions) or Clickbank order form impressions (Engagements) are sales. This can affect the performance of your campaigns.
As a rule of thumb, follow the screenshot below when setting up your Default Rules for Audience Optimization.
How do I track multiple ads?
To track multiple ad variations, all you need to do is go to the Campaigns URL Builder, found under the Tools menu in your Campaigns dashboard. From there, enter in the landing page you want to use.
For each ad variation, you can build a different UTM link, using one of the UTM parameters to "label" which ad is which.
We commonly see users using the utm_content parameter to track their ads. For example, one ad might have utm_content=ad1 and another might have utm_content=ad2.
You can use a different URL in the Final URL section of each of your ads.
To see the results for each ad, you can go to Reports, then “UTM Performance” in your Campaigns dashboard.
From there, you can choose Stats by “Content” and you’ll see a full list of all of your ads, as well as their performance.
It's also a really good idea to take a look at the article below, which will help you understand what UTM parameters are and how you should use them.
Do you have anyone who can just set everything up for me?
That’s not something we do here at ClickMagick, but we can refer you to CM Pros.
This is a separate service created by one of our Customer Support representatives here at ClickMagick. They know both ClickMagick and Velocity Profits inside out, and they can set everything up for you for a small one-time fee.
